Congrats, 2025 apprentice grads!

Celebrating Success: Gregory Poole’s Apprentice Class August 2024 – January 2025

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest Apprentice class, which ran from August 2024 to January 2025. This intensive program has equipped our Apprentice Technicians with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field of heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Comprehensive Training Schedule

Our Apprentice class followed a structured schedule designed to cover all essential aspects of heavy equipment technology:

  • Week 1: Caterpillar History
  • Week 2: Basic Engine
  • Week 3: Basic Electrical
  • Week 4: Power Train
  • Week 5: Basic Hydraulics
  • Week 6: MACS 609 A/C Certification/Basic Air Conditioning

Dedicated Instructors

Our team of expert instructors played a crucial role in the success of our Apprentice program students:

  • Trent Jones – CAT Certified Skills Instructor
  • Student Gregory Hurley – Instructed by Wilmington with Branch Manager Derrick Miller
  • Student Jacob Rios – Instructed by Fayetteville with Branch Manager Robert Burkholder
  • Students Malachi Daye & Parker Dupree – Instructed by Raleigh (Service/Heavy Construction) with Service Manager Cody Justus

Hands-On Learning and Certification

The Apprentice Technicians completed six weeks of combined classroom instruction and hands-on training. This comprehensive approach ensured they gained practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. Each week, students were tested on the topics covered, culminating in a challenging 200-question final exam on week 6.

Additionally, the technicians earned their MACS 609 A/C Certification, which allows them to purchase refrigerant and comply with EPA regulations for the recovery and recycling of refrigerant.

Achievements and Future Opportunities

Upon passing the final exam and certification tests, the Apprentice Technicians received their Gregory Poole Certificate of Completion. This certificate is a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the program.

We are excited to see Gregory Hurley again soon as he joins our Apprentice 2 Program starting in February! His commitment to continuous learning and professional development is truly inspiring.
